In Hannah Kelly’s role as Chief Nursing Officer, she will be overseeing AHN’s Clinical Nursing teams across East Africa and developing clear processes for execution and monitoring of the nursing function, overseeing nursing human capital recruitment and management, development, training and continuous nursing education. Prior to this role, Hannah held the role of Director of Clinical Operations at AHN, overseeing nurse training and continuous nursing education, resource and staffing, quality monitoring, biomedical quality assurance and clinical adherence to protocols across clinical teams.

Hannah comes from a clinical management background, and has been working in East Africa across the last 5 years. When Hannah first arrived in Tanzania, she was contracted through Australian Aid as a Health Systems Mentor with The Plaster House, an organization that provides surgical and rehabilitative healthcare for children living with physical disabilities. In her role she helped develop initiatives to targeted gaps in healthcare, including comprehensive nursing assessment, improved post-surgical care, and malnutrition clinics.

Following her time at The Plaster House, Hannah moved to NSK Hospitals Ltd as the Outpatient Department Manager where she oversaw the development and implementation of healthcare policies and procedures, developed community health programs, performed internal audits for quality assurance and up-skilled the medical staff in Emergency Care, in addition to the day-to-day management of the busy OPD clinic.

Hannah has a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and a Bachelors of Public Health from Queensland University of Technology, both of which she graduated with Academic Distinction.
